Johnny Weissmuller spent a portion of his childhood in Windber, PA. He contracted polio at a young age and took up swimming. Swimming
would lead Weissmuller to 5 Gold Olympic Medals, 52 National Championships, and the setting of 67 world records. He retired from swimming undefeated.
Weissmuller then moved on to an acting career where he portrayed Tarzan in 14 mainstream movies. He is the actor who invented the Tarzan yell.
